I've already found someone to sublease my apartment in Houston. Now I am just working on finding an apartment in Charleston. It would be a lot easier if I wasn't so picky. There are so many ads out needing a roommate, but I want to live alone.
The first reason that I want to live alone is my dogs. I do not trust some random stranger to be left alone with my 2 babies. Yes, right now that is what they are to me. I would be devastated if a stranger did something to them or even accidentally let them out and they ran away. I've heard HORROR stories about things that roommates have done to other roommate's pets!
The second reason that I want to live alone is that I have numerous people that want to come and visit me. I want my mom to come and stay with me for a week as well as other friends/family members. I don't want to feel bad because I am constantly having guests over. I also don't want my guests to feel like they are imposing upon these strange roommates.
Number three, I have lived alone for 2 years. I am used to being able to do what I want and when I want. I want to be able to cook when I want, lay on the couch when I want, etc. I don't feel like I would be comfortable living in a house with strangers. It would be one thing if it was one of my close friends, but that is not the case.
Maybe I am being picky. Maybe I am not adventurous enough. If it comes down to it and all I can find is a place with a roommate, I am sure I will take it. When I stop to think about it, living with other girls would be an immediate way to make friends. BUT what if we don't get along? Charleston is also a college town and I have no desire to live with college aged kids that party all night long in the living room! That would be a miserable 2 months! I am going to try my hardest to find a one bedroom place. We will see how it works out.
Here is my ad on Craigslist. If you know of any thing that would fit the criteria, let me know!
I sure hope I can go to Charleston for those 2 months. I would love to be so close to the beach all summer! I also want to take weekend trips to Charlotte and Savannah. This blog may turn into "My Adventures in Charleston" and I will LOVE it!
Who wants to come to visit me???

I've never been to Charleston, but have ALWAYS wanted to go. I hope that it works out for you to be able to go this summer- and I completely understand about not wanting a roommate. I haven't had a roommate in two years and don't think I could ever go back!
ReplyDeleteI seriously, would come visit. If you would have me?! So fun!! I know several people in Charleston and will send this ad to one in particular who's boyfriend is a golf pro down.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you on living alone. I had a roomate my first year out of college and after that I was all alone. LOVED it! It was a big adjustment getting married! HA!
Stay tuned.
I think this is so amazing!! Good for you :)
ReplyDeleteHave you ever read the blog "Everyday Musings"?? http://www.olivia-rae.com/
Olivia lives in Charleston, and her blog is pretty much all about the city. She is super sweet, so I bet if you emailed her she could give you some really great suggestions.
ah I love this! One of my really good friends went to college near there she always talks about how amazing it is there - jealous!! You will love it!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have SO MUCH fun! I know you will find an awesome place to live over the summer. I think it's so amazing that you are taking the plunge and going on an adventure!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun! You are definitely more adventurous than I am. lol. Hope you have a great time and can't wait to read about it! Good luck with the apartment hunting!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun adventure - I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh i would absolutely love to go there! xo
ReplyDeleteWow, I just read this post about Charleston and you wanting to live alone and EVERY single reason you listed is EVERY single reason why I want and will be living alone :)
ReplyDelete#1. I don't trust ANYONE with my two babies (dogs) either!
#2. I said almost the EXACT same thing to my mom the other day about visitors... I was like, 'Mom, I want you and Dad and my friends to come visit and stay WITH me...not in a hotel, and I want you to have your own room and not have to worry about bothering a roommate when you come visit."
#3. I live alone, own a house and have been there, done that. I don't want or need a roommate, please and thank you :)
Can't wait to hang out!!!
